Financial Controller/Head of Finance

• Annual Salary: £55,000-£65,000

• Please note this role requires you to work IN OFFICE 5 DAYS A WEEK

Seeking a practical, commercially minded Head of Finance to lead the finance department of a growing SME /Medium sized company. 

Reporting directly to the CFO. The Head of Finance will manage a team of three, overseeing all aspects of financial management, including the preparation of financial reports, budgeting, and compliance with statutory and financial regulations.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Manage the full 360 of the accounts process through to hand-over to external accountants

• Preparation of all reporting, including monthly financial statements, reconciliations, VAT, P&L, B/S, audit, budgets, costings analysis, forecasting, and year-end financial reports.

• Audit preparation and liaison with external auditors.

• Oversee a team of three finance professionals, mentor and manage.

• Ability to advise on process improvements and identify any issues with the transactional accounting.

• Ensure compliance with statutory law and financial regulations.

• Work closely with the CFO to analyse and make decisions on financial planning and risk management.

• Monitor financial performance by measuring and analysing results; initiating corrective actions; and minimising the impact of variances.

• Develop and implement financial strategies that are aligned with the company's overall goals.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Head of Finance, Finance Director, or similar role.

• Strong leadership skills and experience managing finance teams.

• “Hands-on” practical approach with a strong understanding of commercial finance.

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate financial information to non-finance stakeholders.

• A solid understanding of financial accounting principles and practices.

• Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations.

• High attention to detail

• CIMA, ACCA, ACA Qualified accountant or QBE to a similar level may be considered.
